Is sympatex the same as gore-tex?

A closed membrane like SympaTex differs from microporous membranes (such as Gore-Tex) Which have microscopic pores that let air (and water vapour) pass through, yet have such low surface energy that the surface tension of any (liquid) water in contact remains too high to allow it to squeeze through the pores.

Like PTFE functional fabrics, the main benefit of Sympatex is Its waterproof attributes. This unique membrane is completely impermeable to liquid water, but it still allows water vapor to pass through it.

While the Gore-Tex membrane belongs to the “waterproof” category and is therefore perfectly suited for extreme weather conditions, Gore-Tex-Infinium belongs to the “water-repellent” category. It is therefore very much suitable for everyday use, while Gore-Tex is more suitable for everyday use and everything beyond.

Failure Point #1: Loss of Breathability
