Is three a few or several?

More than several/a few/a couple of you have asked. Couple is used to refer to two things, but is also often used for a small number greater than two. Few is used the same way as couple and also for a number slightly greater than a couple. Several is usually used for a number greater than a couple and a few.

A few means A small amount out of the whole amount.

Usually, “a few” means three but it’s the same thing as saying “I’ll be ready in a few minutes.” It could mean anything. “I’m going to eat a few cookies” could mean 20 cookies. Just like saying “a couple of..” when pertaining to time and quantity it can be a large amount.

How many months is “a few months”? In American English, “a few” would be Between three and five.

Generally speaking, a few weeks is anywhere Between 2–3 weeks Long.

Two is a “couple” and more than two or three is several. If you eat four donuts you can say you had several but you may have had too many — especially if you get a stomach-ache. Several is a word that shows size or number when you can’t be specific or when you want to summarize.

While many people would agree that “a few” means three or more, the actual dictionary definition of “a few” is, “not many but more than one.” So, “a few” cannot be one, but it can be As low as two .

Little refers to non-countable nouns, and is used with the singular form to indicate that something exists only in a small amount or to a slight degree. Few refers to countable nouns, and is used with the plural form to indicate not many persons or things. For example: I’ve got little money left in my account.

A few could typically mean 2–9, since it generally means More than one yet less than ten (except when the ten is noted as some proportion of a much-larger set like 1,000 or 100,000). Two people of a 12- person jury is a few; so is four.

“A few” means “some” or “a handful”. “Few” means “virtually none” or “almost zero”. “A few” connotes “not an overwhelmingly large number, but not an insignificantly small number either.”

If being specific, “a couple of hours” means two hours. However, when said people often refer to “about two hours, more or less”. A few hours is more vague; A few hours definitely means Less than 24 hours In 99.99% cases and could range from 2–5 hours depending upon the work or that particular context.

“A couple of days” is two or three days (but not usually more.) “A few days” is Three or four days (give or take a day.)

Taylor offers this definition: “A throuple Is a relationship between three people who have all unanimously agreed to be in a romantic, loving, relationship together with the consent of all people involved.” You may also hear a throuple referred to as a three-way relationship, triad, or closed triad.
